   "THE COSSAKS"

The Chorus and Dance Academic Group “The Cossaks” is the oldest and largest national group of traditional folklor art in Russia which has been in force since the beginning of the XIX century.

 

 

 

It is a remarkable fact that, chronologically the second oldest folklor group- “The Traditional Russian Aacademic Chorus of Mitrofan Piatnistsky”- performed in the one hundred anniversary of The Chorus and Dance Academic Group “The Cossaks”. 

 

 

In october 14th of 1811, the group layed the foundations of a professional musical career in the region of Kuban, where the creative and glorious walking of the chorus was begun.

 

 

The “Kuban Cossaks Chorus” was in 1968 under the management of Sergei Chernobay. 

 

 

In 1974, the artistic manager of the group became the composer Victor Zaharchenko Gavrilovich. He has developed, and put into practice the concept of the center of folklor culture of the Kuban, later became an scientific-artistic institution “Kuban Cossaks”. 

 

The group has travelled performing throughout the whole Russian country, the countries around, and also countries as France, Germany, China, Italy, Israel, etc. They have taken part in several international festival like “International Folk festival Zeeland” and “International Grüne Woche Berlin”.

 

The group had the honour of performing at The Olympics Games Opening in London.

 

The Chorus and Dance Academic Group “Kuban Cossaks” is more than merely an ensemble. It´s an ethnography center for the investigation about the folklor culture.
